THE SAGE STORY

The Sage Group was founded as Sage Consulting Associates in 2003 by Cara France & her business partner. Both had experience leading marketing and business teams at a variety of San Francisco Bay Area companies. Having served “on both sides of the fence” as hiring managers and as consultants, they set out to create an agency that could deliver on what they wanted — to provide the talent that helps marketers achieve their goals and to connect consultants & permanent talent with great career opportunities.

With no experience in HR but a deep awareness of the importance of consultants who “fit,” they focused on the tangibles & the intangibles. Not only the right skills, experience and background but the intangibles that make all the difference. Do you need a consensus builder? An evangelist? A driver? A herder of cats? No two projects are exactly the same and asking good questions is just the beginning. Ultimately, Sage strives to find that “perfect fit” and there are no better words than “Jane/Joe is knocking it out of the ballpark! She/he/they are making my life so much easier.”

The discipline of marketing has changed drastically. To meet the needs of marketers in today’s transforming landscape, we created Marketers that Matter® (MTM) to provide a platform for marketing executives to connect, honor, and learn from each other. In partnership with The Wall Street Journal, we celebrate and learn from marketers at the forefront through private events, HBR articles, our membership program and more. These opportunities give The Sage Group a unique purview and understanding of the marketing disciplines.

MEET CHRIS

Chris is the Executive Vice President of The Sage Group.She leads the Staffing business in addition to co-leading Sage’s growth strategy for close to a decade with founder & Managing Director, Cara France.

Chris has a 25+ year track record of driving innovation, revenue growth and operational transformation in emerging technology, clean-tech, and non-profit environments. She has a reputation for bringing diverse stakeholders together to achieve outstanding results by fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, focus and fun.

Before joining Sage, Chris was the Vice President of Worldwide Channel Sales and Market Development for Echelon Corporation, a clean-tech company. Prior to Echelon, Chris was the CEO of the International Museum of Women, where she built the first digital media museum of its kind in the world. Under her leadership, the museum received the Anita Borg Social Impact Award, the American Association of Museums MUSE Award, and a Special Congressional Recognition from Nancy Pelosi.

Chris also held various executive positions at Lucent Technologies including Vice President/General Manager, Japan, where she led the subsidiary to become the highest performing region worldwide. She also developed their Latin American region, and ran worldwide sales operations for the $700M organization.

Chris is a passionate advocate for women. She has served on the Boards of the Professional Business Women of California, the International Museum of Women, as Director of the Dream University Foundation, as an Advisory Board Member of Watermark and as an Advisor to the former First Lady of San Francisco, Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

Chris has her BS from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. She and her husband reside in the Northern California on a ranch with their horses and border collie, Freeda. Their son followed his sound engineering passion to the east coast where he provides sound for the NBA and other leading clients. They actively support a horse rescue, providing a “forever home” for the rescue’s operation on the ranch.
